Casio Oceanus OCW-M700 Series
Posted by wristwatch on July 9, 2007

Oceanus is the first watch to offer 5 motor technology combined with Atomic Solar technology. Each motor controls a movement on the watch face (second hand, chronograph, world time, and 24 hour time). The new fifth motor replaces the function of the LCD screen found in our first generation models with a classic date display. The new OCWM700 series are the first Oceanus to include Multi-Band 5 Atomic Timekeeping which can receive the Atomic signal in the US, UK, Germany and Japan. These new models also feature a Tide Indicator and come in Titanium or Black IP bands.

I’ve noticed that at some of the online japanese stores that have the The OCW-M700TDJ-1AJF and display their own photos of it, it differs from the Casio images, the clock handles in the Casio images are thick:

webshop: http://www.rakuten.co.jp/santnore/414353/773793/905860/#1109094
but look at these images:

Are these pirate copies?

Are you talking about the hour and minute hands? It just seems as the other photos weren’t taken in a good light. The hour and minute hands seems slimmer than what they actually are.

Yes that is what I meant to say.

Ah, in that case, I don’t think the OCW-M700TDJ-1AJF in the photos are pirate copies. It’s just a trick of light and weird angles.

Does anyone know why the OCW-M7000J costs almost $200 more than the OCW-M700TDJ? I’m assuming there has to be something more than just a different color to justify such a higher price. Thanks for the help.

Oops, it seems I made a typo. The OCW-M7000J-1AJF is titanium with ti carbide coating, while the OCW-M700TDJ-1AJF is just plain stainless steel.

Hmm, I’m almost certain that all the Oceanus’s are titanium (that’s what the “T” in “TDJ” or “TBJ” stands for). However, it wouldn’t be surprising if the M7000J had some sort of stronger coating. Also, I think I read somewhere that the M7000J has a spherical sapphire face whereas the M700 does not.

I’ll check this again and get back to you shortly.

I believe “Oceanus” is right. I had the OCW-M700TBJ-1AJF, and it was Ti on Ti with Black IP.
Look at your own picture of that model, and you’ll see Titanium on the back of the case. The band also says “Base Titanium China” on the middle bar of the clasp.

i’m just wondering where these coating specs informations came from such IP, PVD, DLC (i own a 2832) or Carbide. I had never seen this specs mentioned on any watch user guide and specs that claims they are.
If this coating specs are really true, why do watch manufacturers wont include it on specs sheet.
Or can anyone tell me where to look for it?

Hi,
I’m waiting for my OCW-M7000J-1AJF right now, from “The Bay”, and i would like to know one thing: does this watch have the hourly signal (I mean an annoying “beep” every hour ;-)), I’ve seen this on every Casio watch I had before, and it may be crazy but I love this…
Thanks in advance, regards.
Vince.

According the the manual, I do not think this watch has the hourly time signal feature.

Andrew,
I’m not sure I understand your question. If you are asking for the User’s Manual, you can download it here:
